A better day, although I have lost a temporary carer who had made herself very dear in only a few days. No knitting, because Perdita is lying on my work and has been there for hours and there’s no arguing with a cat. The weather is off-and-on — sunshine through the windows, much appreciated by me and the cat, but actual human beings who venture out say that the wind bites.
I’ve finished listening to Allingham’s account of village life during the war, not without interest. And also finished reading “Sweet Danger”. I am now driven back on the biography, “The Adventures of Margery Allingham” but I hope KD will take over soon with the new club. I’ve been sent the dates but I’ve forgotten them.
Wordle: my starters served me well — two greens and a brown, and I remembered in time one of my few — perhaps my only — rules for Wordle, and got it in three. Thomas joined me there. Four for Alexander and Mark. Five for Rachel and Ketki. We haven’t heard from DC yet. I’ll try to remember to tell you my rule tomorrow.
Bedtime: a five for Theo. Silence still from Roger.
Thank you for the clue...
ReplyDeleteYes, using your rule, I also got Wordle in three. Thank you! I come for the knitting conversation, and I get that and so much more.

I wonder why cats love knitted surfaces so much.
ReplyDeleteToday's high point: rhubarb showed up in the supermarket! It may have been there last week but I was up north watching the eclipse. It was awesome. The bright sunshine made it warm until the eclipse began, then it got very cold, as the air was still cold. Very dramatic change, from basking to grabbing for our winter coats.
I got Wordle in 4 this morning after remembering your rule. It was very helpful since at that point, there was apparently one one possibility left and I was really struggling to find words that worked with the letters I had remaining. Thank you for mentioning that previously.
ReplyDeleteLove hearing about Perdita, Jean! Circumstances prevent having a pet these days but we miss our long-since-deceased little cat and her peculiar little ways. And there is nothing like a cat napping on a fireplace hearth to make one feel that all is right with the world - even when it isn’t. We are also dog lovers and one of each would make an ideal household, but impractical at this stage of life. At least hearing about Perdita helps fill the gap. Any pictures of her I might have missed on Instagram? Chloe
ReplyDeleteIt's a shame you cannot have that carer put on the regular rota!
