Apparently it was originally (ca.1916) "the Queen Mary toe and the Kitchener heel", both recommended by the organization that Kitchener asked Queen Mary to set up in WWI to get women to knit things for the military. Then it became Kitchener toe by 1917. I haven't yet tracked when it became Kitchener _stitch_.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8466385.post-76883519739486398272009-01-17T01:42:00.000+00:002009-01-17T01:42:00.000+00:00Was going to leave you a link for the Perri Klass ...Was going to leave you a link for the Perri Klass column on Children and Manners, but see Barbara beat me to the punch: http://www.nytimes.com/2009/01/13/health/13klas.html?scp=1&sq=manners&st=cseMary Louhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05588244535423212079noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8466385.post-87959159413932017022009-01-14T19:27:00.000+00:002009-01-14T19:27:00.000+00:00Jean, you mentioned Perri Klass a few days ago. It is called "18 and under" (I think) and fits with her other career as a pediatrician.

I hope you enjoy your long weekend. The sweater looks lovely.

Barbara M.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8466385.post-28014027767981694102009-01-14T18:43:00.000+00:002009-01-14T18:43:00.000+00:00One of my uncles had a bad eye and the only requir...One of my uncles had a bad eye and the only requirement was that he had to have side mirrors on both sides of the car before this was normal for all cars.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8466385.post-60885644050557272142009-01-14T10:53:00.000+00:002009-01-14T10:53:00.000+00:00On strawberries: there's a variety called Mara des...On strawberries: there's a variety called Mara des Bois, which is just lovely. They taste like wild strawberries but are only slightly smaller that the "store-bought". I don't know about growing them, though, but if you can they are definitely worth it! /AnnaAnonymousnoreply@blogger.com
