I'm finding it harder than it used to be to enjoy merely average fantasy, but Diana Wynne Jones's books still satisfy the craving.=Tamarnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8466385.post-77283025677067858652014-02-23T12:21:32.515+00:002014-02-23T12:21:32.515+00:00If you like Jane Austen, and can stand naval matte...If you like Jane Austen, and can stand naval matters, you might try the Aubrey-Maturin series, spanning from 1800 to about 1815 or so. I've been told it's very Austen-ish, although the series was written from about 1975 through the author's death in 2000 or so. Author is Patrick O'Brian, first book is Master and Commander (yes, the film was based on it, but the books are better!), although some suggest starting with the third book, HMS Surprise, and then going back to read the other two books later. Available both on paper and for Kindle.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8466385.post-62047491121512373382014-02-22T17:37:09.625+00:002014-02-22T17:37:09.625+00:00Glad to know all is well; I missed you yesterday.Glad to know all is well; I missed you yesterday.kayTnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8466385.post-74140685243736755152014-02-22T16:50:23.997+00:002014-02-22T16:50:23.997+00:00I completely agree that Austen spoils one for ever...I completely agree that Austen spoils one for everybody else.
