For next time,...Ribbing will flip up, won't it. For next time, one solution I've read of is to work a row or two of every other rib extended into the stockinette. Seed stitch would probably work, too. It is historical (shown in photos) for the entire ribbing - 8 or 10 inches deep - of a gansey to be worn flipped up as an extra layer.
