It was all part of Ocean Township at that time. Interlaken seceded from Ocean in 1922. I have no idea how the borders on Interlaken were drawn, but suspect the two branches of Deal Lake were part of it. <br /><br />I'm sure you know that Asbury Park fell on hard times, and the schools suffered as well. No doubt the good folks of Interlaken wouldn't want to send their darlings to school with those kids. <br /><br />Luckily, Asbury Park is making quite the comeback, and who knows?
