Our niece just phoned to say that the hospice thinks death is near. We're about to head out there, instead of going to Mass. I'll take my knitting.
Greek Helen left at 4 this morning, Rachel and Ed at a more dignified hour to drive south. It was a good visit all round, on many fronts.
I'll be thinking of you and yours today. I'm so glad the family was there in time to say what needed to be said.

ReplyDeleteAlthough a loved one's passing is rarely easy for those left behind, it's good that C's passing seems to have been relatively pain-free and peaceful. Hospice has been a great comfort to my family several times, and I hope that it has eased things for yours, as well.

ReplyDeletePraying for your family today. I am so sorry for all of you.
ReplyDeletePrayers for your extended family. How lovely that someone read Ash Wednesday for her. And how lovely that Cicely Saunders began the whole hospice / organized palliative care thing, which, if I remember rightly, was just making itself felt in North American when I returned from the UK in the late 70s.
