Perdita has re-appeared!
She is quite severely lame -- right front paw. I am afraid she will have to suffer until at least Tuesday.(I have an appt with my embolism consultant on Monday) She is clearly chastened, or maybe just sore -- but appetite is unaffected.
Great news! Hooray!!
ReplyDeleteThank you for the update. Stella x
Did she fall or jump off the shelf awkwardly in fright?
ReplyDeleteIf you think it's bad, does your vet offer a walk in clinic session? Mine does most days. Even if you do need an appointment it would be worth phoning to see if you could be squeezed in. Then get in a taxi and take her. Chances are though it's just a bump and she'll be fine with a bit of rest. If she screams in pain when you touch it though (rather than just growl and nip you) then an x-ray might be necessary.
If she's eating though she's probably fine. Did you check the paw pads for shards of pot?
DeleteShe lets me stroke the affected leg and the pot broke into clumps rather than shards. She is clearly more than a bit shaken by the experience.
DeleteThank goodness! And thanks to you for keeping us informed.
ReplyDeleteSo happy to see this!
ReplyDeletePhew! So glad to hear this!
ReplyDeletePoor little rascal! I'm glad she's okay. I hope the hospital/discharge/care troubles smooth out today.
ReplyDeleteWhew - I'm sure you'll know by Monday whether it is serious or not. I do hope things get figured out for the home care. Will the hospital keep your husband if there is no help to be had?
ReplyDeleteOh thank heavens! Really that would be too much to have her missing on top of the hospital mess.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad she has reappeared. Chances are her leg will be fine, given a bit of time. It sounds like a rather dreadful start to the day though. I hope the remainder of it has improved.
ReplyDeletePerdita and my cat Katerina would make good partners in crime.
ReplyDeleteSo glad to see - before I'd read that she was gone - that Perdita was back. These wonderful pets really do put us through it, don't they? Sounds as though her injury not too serious. What a nuisance about the home care - hope that gets sorted out soon.

Relieved to know she is back! I hope it will turn out that she is more frightened than anything else.
ReplyDeleteWhen my mother's cat was injured, my dad found her at the back of a closet. I agree that they all have secret hiding places.
I was very taken with her Christmas photo, where she was helping with the decorating. Usually cats are better at "undecorating."
Very touched to see how quickly international support was mounted to help you find her. Clearly you have a wonderful readership.
Best of luck in getting the necessary support for your husband.

One bit of good news, at least!

Thank heavens Perdita has shown up! I can't imagine the worry - especially on top of everything else. Sending lots and lots of good vibes your way and Perdita's.
ReplyDeletePoor you, and poor Perdita! I'm sure she just landed badly on her legs when she leapt from the scene of the crime. And don't be surprised if she pulls a similar disappearing act if there are any loud bangs/crashes in future. My kitty absolutely hates loud noises, ever since the tree hit our roof in the derecho of 2013.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with getting the caretakers sorted out, too.
I agree with annec in Maryland...Perdita probably made that high jump when the crash came and landed oddly on that right leg. My 3 go nuts when the doorbell rings! Hope the care situation gets sorted soonest!
ReplyDeleteOh. Fortunately for me I caught up on all this news after you were found Perdita. You really do need to be more careful! You are supposed to be looking after those two humans you know!
ReplyDeleteMore seriously. We had the same problem with the carers for my father's brother. Each time he went into hospital - a quite frequent occurrence we were expected to inform the carers "immediately". As they were sometimes the same people who were informing us it was a slightly ridiculous situation. The system then had to be re-activated - medical certificate and phone calls etc. It never stopped completely but there were times when he went without a shower for a week - not at all nice in very hot weather. I lived too far away to help (and his only child lives in London). So, I sympathise madly.
