I’m not feeling
too bad. The Cazalets, still stuck in pre-Pearl-Harbor 1940, certainly suit my mood of sadness and anxiety.
Everything here is pretty well done, and everything last-minute inscribed upon
lists. Rachel rang up, very sympathetic. Archie came this morning. 2476 steps. The
weather is, as promised, improving somewhat and the garden is unbelievably
beautiful, with all those different greens as the trees come into leaf, and the
rhododendron bank in full splendour.
I’ve knit myself a
bit further forward on the second Pairfect sock, and mustn’t forget to take it
along tomorrow.
