I am going to leave this text less corrected tonight. I need a proper keyboard for the iPad. I’m never going to get bCk to that laptop. Correction takes a long time.
A quiet dY. C, came. Helen came kn the afternoon so that I wouldn’t be alone during the carer’s break. James is threatening to. O,e back next weekens. I don’t think things afe quite that bad.
A lawyer is coming tomorrow to talk about minimizing inheritance tax. I think i’ve done all thT can reasonably be done but we’ll see.
Wordle — a stinker. Rachel and Ketki and I all got six. No Jean-words, so by then I had eliminated a lot of comsonants. I just had to pick one that was pronouncable and keep fingers crossed. My winning streak is now 30.
Four for Mark and Alexander, three for clever Thomas. Five for both Roger and Theo. A stinker all around. At leSt it didn’t beat any of us.
Dear Jean, I bought this keyboard 7 years ago, and it has served me well ever since. You can connect 3 devices to it, the iPad fits securely in the slot, and I don’t think I’ve ever replaced the batteries. https://a.co/d/4HkouQO It (or something like it) might serve you well. Cam
ReplyDeleteI hope that link works! If not, it’s a Logitech K480 wireless keyboard, priced at $29.99 US. Cam again
DeleteForewarned is forearmed; I often forget to do wordle until I've read your blog. I got there with one try left!
DeleteHope you get that keyboard, if it helps! We’ll puzzle through anyway :) (Did you find out the trick that if you push and hold the iPad space bar, the entire iPad keyboard becomes a sort of touchpad with which you can drag the cursor to anywhere in your typed text? Eye-opener for me!)
ReplyDeleteAnna from NL - the Netherlands, although I wouldn’t mind moving to Newfoundland :)
I failed on wordle today, breaking my streak of 48 days.
ReplyDeleteThinking of you and your kids during this time. I lost my father, my husband and my mother in the last 2 years. The transition is hard for everyone. I'm glad you have your family around you.
Jane from Illinois
Never mind the corrections, I was able to read your post with no problem. Perhaps being a daily Wordler helps. Please keep posting, I get so much enjoyment from your messages.
ReplyDeleteI am glad you have such a wonderful family around you.

I dearly want a keyboard for my tablet. I will have to look for one. The spacebar trick doesn't seem to work on this old Samsung.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your visitors!
Sending good thoughts to you and your loving family. How blessed you are. And how blessed all of us are--your friends from near and far. You have created quite a loving network.
ReplyDeletePessed send too early. The above is from MaureenTakoma in Maryland
DeleteJust checked in. My experience with elderly family members is that no one really knows, but it is best to be prepared. You seem very lucid to me, very engaged with the world around you and with tech. Same wry sense of humour. I should order that keyboard.
ReplyDeleteYes, get the keyboard. I, too, have a Logitech keyboard for my iPad — it is actually a “keyboard cover” that folds into itself when not in use — and I love it. It is on the more expensive end (around US$100-125, depending on the ups model you have), but if you are going to be using only the iPad, it may be worth the expense.
ReplyDeleteA quick search suggests that starting with Logitech’s own website is the easiest way to figure out which product you want — and from there you (or Archie!) can search for the best price on that model.

DeleteYou are blessed in many things, Jean: a loving family and friends who will look out for your welfare; a practical doctor who not only comes to your house, but speaks truth to you at this critical time of life; a raft of internet friends who love you; and a treasury of knitted things of your own making that will keep your name alive for many years. As one who is following close behind in years, I know the true value of each of these things. You are a model of how to live well.
ReplyDeleteSurely Archie or someone can pick up a keyboard or keyboard case for you. I love the one I have for my ipad. Nevertheless, your post is legible. Reminded me of the old posters in the subway -if u cn rd ths u cn gt a gd jb! Sending good thoughts your way!
