Well, that was grand. Raonic played awfully well, Kristie – Canada
can be proud. He’ll be back. But Murray played better. It was a tight match,
but the result wasn’t just luck. Raonic bore himself well in defeat, as in
play. Murray burst into tears – not just wiping a drop from the manly eye, but
apparently sobbing.
Now there’s nothing to look forward to except darkness. I
must re-engage with knitting.
So glad Murray won - didn't watch it myself - too stressful for my present condition. And Helen Watson too! Aren't we lucky to have them both!
ReplyDeleteNothing to look forward to? Oh dear!
ReplyDeleteI hope there is - how about the olympics? there will be tennis then, and Andy Murray will be defending his title (DVWP)!

Gosh, that sentence will surely make it on to the next tea towel, Jean! It is mid-summer, and Archie will be on hand to cheer you up. And is Helen not due home soon?
ReplyDeleteHappy for you that Murray won. Those photos of vintage patterns for men really made me laugh, which I sorely needed. I hope having Archie around will be a wonderful distraction.
ReplyDeleteI saw the last part of the match and thought of you, Jean. I think you're right. Raonic will be back. It was a treat to see two gentlemen and their responses to victory and defeat.
ReplyDeleteIs there any way you could slip out to your local knitting store a few days a week so you have a little time to yourself? I know you were doing this for awhile, but can't remember why you stopped. It would give you something to look forward to. I hate to think of you feeling like you only have darkness ahead.
I guess I'm an optimist -- I thought you were referring to the days getting shorter (and darker). Which is a great time to knit, isn't it?
ReplyDeleteCam
There is a whole book of haps to do though so surely, hopefully some light on the horizon?
ReplyDeleteDid you catch the brief interview with Kate Davies on the Simon Mayo Show yesterday? She interrupted her holiday to answer a question about socks. She managed to pack a tremendous amount of information into a very short time and kept it accessible for those who don't knit socks, with the essential warning that once started it can become addictive. In my view a gem.
ReplyDeleteIt should be available on BBC catch-up for about a week,if anyone wants to listen.
