Sorry about yesterday. As you suspected, I was too
exhausted after the lawyer’s visit – so exhausted, as it proved, that I couldn’t
sleep. I remember that happening after a transatlantic flight. At any event,
all well today. I went for a walk, and must keep on trying to do that.
I think the lawyer left with a good idea of my husband’s
estate, and I with a good idea of what I’ve got to do. “Probate” isn’t called
that in Scotland – it’s “Confirmation”. Live and learn.
There’s not much to report on the knitting front BUT a
dear friend came round and solved the problem of the missing photographs sent
from the iPad. It has something to do, I think, with the fact that I don’t use
the iPad mail system but rather Googlemail, accessed through Safari.
And then the next problem was that the iPad wouldn’t
charge. I seem to have solved that one myself by re-booting.
So, here’s Perdita on the Himalayan shepherd’s shawl:
And here’s the current state of the Northmavine Hap,
at the beginning of the third 24-row repeat. I'll soon need a longer needle:
Cats: Rachel and Ed and their children used often to
join us in Strathardle after Christmas, bringing their cat Romilly. She and our
cat Poussin were not at all pleased with each other, but eventually adopted a modus vivendi and finally slept together
peacefully enough, one on each chair on either side of the wood-burning stove
in the sitting room. (Same make and model of chair, same distance from the
stove.)
After Poussin’s death, Romilly moved over to the Top
Cat’s chair.
Perdita has grown so much. She's a bonafide big kitty now. Here's hoping you can catch up on your sleep.
ReplyDeletePerdita is such a beautiful little cat. She makes me lonely for the one and only cat who saw me skillfully through from youth to middle age. I hope someone else will be doing most of the onerous work of settling your husband's estate. It can be grueling and you would enjoy some carefree time, I suspect.
ReplyDeleteDear Perdita - she has owned that chair.
ReplyDeleteShe's a beauty:)!
ReplyDeleteVery telling story re the two cats. My sister and her husband are dog people. She told me that when her husband was away their dog would regard her as lower in the pack than he was and would attempt to boss her about.
ReplyDeleteYou might find it helpful to get Helen to help you move the furniture round. Immediately following my father's death my mother took to sitting in his chair, because, she said, it meant that she did not have to sit looking at the empty space. I thought that this was very wise - of course, she had no cat.
Oh, Perdita! What a fine cat you are!
ReplyDeleteWhere do you walk, Jean? I like to GO somewhere when I walk. Why can't the yarn store be within walking distance 😩?
Speaking of the lys, the expert there told me I shouldn't ever need a circular needle longer than 24 in. Hmmmmmm. What about haps?
I have been away for a bit, I am so sorry for your loss. I am sure it was a great comfort for your husband to be home with loved ones (Perdita included) to make his transition. My thoughts and prayers are with you.
ReplyDeleteThe colors in that hap are gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteThe colors and the pattern are delightful!
ReplyDeletePerdita does look exceedingly comfortable and immovable as well!
ReplyDeletePerdita is gorgeous. Very sedate looking after being such a spry kitten. The shawl looks fantastic and I look forward to the finished piece. Continue to take care of yourself and I hope the "confirmation" of your husband's estate goes smoothly. As always, best regards. - Joe-in Wyoming
