Very little indeed to report this morning – and the weather is grim.
I have reached round 65 of the shawl border. An oddity of its construction is that it doesn’t decrease gently and constantly at the corners, like every other Shetland shawl I have ever knit. It has a few, fairly violent, decrease rows. I have done only one so far, but another looms at 72. Will I reach it before we go back to Strathardle?
No reply from Plimoth after all, about the taste of Good King Henry.
I give up. I’ll post this so that you can know I am alive, and go have my bath.

Hope your bath will cheer you up,Marcella in Holland
ReplyDeleteIs the shawl meant to ruffle in places? Wouldn't that be the effect of occasional mass decreases rather than a steady rate of decrease?

I find those 'violent' decrease rows interesting, too. I, like Gretchen above, would think that would cause some kind of ruffling. But maybe blocking would take care of that effect.
ReplyDeleteI hope you will be cheered up soon.
EZ's Pi shawl has violent decreases or increases at widely spaced intervals, yet it seems to block well. Lace seems to be much more flexible that way than stockinette.
ReplyDeleteSpeaking of grim weather, locally today it's 91.8F and officially feels like 113F; they're predicting 99F tomorrow and 103F for Friday.
Bleh.
