I am sorry about
the death of Colin Powell. He was a great man – one who could have been president
but decided not to.
I watched a news clip of Clinton emerging from hospital. He looked distinctly tottery.
Amazon turned up
about 5:30 last night. I had some soup and tucked myself up in bed by 6:30. Not
bad at all.
And Carla sent me

The NHS has swung
into action on my case. I thought they were meant to be up to the eyeballs in a COVID backlog. Who am I? 88
years old – not all that long to go with the best of outcomes. I am to have a
colonoscopy in November – mercifully, after my sister’s visit and before Helen’s
planned exit for a week in Greece. Otherwise not a matter for rejoicing. And I
will see a lung specialist next week – that should be relatively painless.
Knitting: I
resumed the Calcutta Cup vest today. Progress remains very slow. Can I persuade
myself to do a bit this evening?
I find myself
absurdly tempted by sweaters I will never have time to knit: Kate Davies’ “Lilias
Day” (it’s in Schiehallion, lovely to knit) and Brooklyn Tweed’s “Idiom”. That
one would be so expensive to import – and their London outpost Loop doesn’t
have the yarn in any interesting colours – that I will probably be restrained.
And I’ve got to finish the CC vest. Things are so slow on that front
that I could almost say I hope we don’t win in ’22.
Don't get too addicted to the little cheetahs! At some point, the mother will move them, and the place she brings them to may not have a camera installed. With last year's litter, we had occasional blackouts. It is so much fun to watch them grow.
ReplyDeleteOoo... colonoscopy - not fun, especially the day before ( my husband's just had one) But good that investigations are in train. A couple of rows each day on that little vest will soon show some progress.
ReplyDeleteBe tempted! It's those not-to-be-denied knitting temptations that we save for getting through darker days and health challenges. I find that I have started using a range of projects/milestones from varying sources to keep moving forward, stitch by stitch. Totally in sync with your blend of slow and fast. Bravo!
ReplyDeleteAh, Paradox. I had been meaning to ask which of your cats that was. Thanks for the Cheetah link. I have forwarded it to my mom.
ReplyDeleteHappy to hear the NHS has swung into action and that you have taken up the vest again even if it is at a slower pace than you usually go.
Glad the NHS is on top of things with you! I am happy to see you are being tempted by projects, even if you resist the new purchases!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad the NHS is looking after you. Perhaps things are looking up covid-wise in Scotland? Sorry to hear about the colonoscopy. Be glad you are tempted by knitting patterns! The time to worry is when nothing appeals.
ReplyDeleteImprovements all around, in fact. Cute kittens, interesting knitting patterns, and the NHS has time for older people.
ReplyDeleteI've had two colonoscopies. For me they were no big deal. Prep was a bit boring, but I had several books to read. I admit, I would be happier if one of your family were available for chauffeur duty.
Anyway, kittens!
