I’ve said goodbye to my table companions — Helen and May and Renata and Mary and Elspeth. They have been good company and I will miss them.
We are having a garden party here tomorrow. I don’t much care for such things, and will be glad to be away before it happens. Helen says we can stop at a SUPERMARKET on the way home. I haven’t been to one for ages, what with the COVID restrictions. That will be a real treat. I’ll buy food for the weekend — and cat food, if needed — and then when I get home, lodge an order to be delivered early next week. My substitute cleaner can’t start until Friday. It will be a valuable challenge, to look after myself for five whole days.
I’ve finished the body of the Lilias Day and started the first sleeve. It will go quickly, I think. I’ve nearly finished the second ball of Ooskit.
Alexander and Ketki’s son Thomas needed four guesses for today’s Wordle. Alexander and Ketki and I (and Rachel in London) required three, old friend Mark got it in two.
Are you knitting your sleeves flat? I ask because I always knit both sleeves at the same time - using separate balls of yarn. This means that any increases happen at the same time and when they are done, they're done.
ReplyDeleteSince you will have Helen to help carry stuff, why not buy enough for a few extra days? There's bound to be something special that the delivery order might not cover.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on having arrived at the sleeve portion!
A supermarket! What larks! I bought myself a coffee in a cafe last week, the first time since March 2020. Had to sit down to recover...
ReplyDeleteI had my first failure at Wordle yesterday. I had the first three letters right off the bat, but so many options to choose from left me high and dry. Today I got it in three. Finishing a cowl in Brooklyn Tweed Shelter and Arbor and I am frustrated with the bindoff. I tried my newest fave, Icelandic, but it rippled. Back to the drawing board.
ReplyDeleteI tend to avoid large milling-around groups myself. The conversation often feels forced. But sometimes you can happen on really useful information that way. (A better recipe for kimchee for instance.) So when I have to I try to look on it as an opportunity - all the while planning for a quick exit. Sorry you will be deprived of your table companions, it’s a nice way to start or end the day. Chloe
