It's been a bright, sunny day but I have been too ill to enjoy it. Helen is about to go off to London for her book lanuch, so she phoned the doctor this morning. He came at once, and not just any old doctor, but the man we've known for thirty years. I've got a chest infection and a fever. But the other numbers are good -- oxygen saturation and BP and whatever -- and he was happy for me to stay home, I've now got some amoxicillin and have started taking it, so far without noticeable effect.
The doctor wasn't happy about my being here alone. James is coming up tomorrow and will be here by lunchtime.
I've been in bed for most of the day, and will retreat to that position shortly.
Wordle: Another toughy. I skidded home with six. Ketki and Roger joined me there. Alexander and his son Thomas scored five. The stars were Rachel, Theo and Mark with four.
I'm glad the doctor came and hope the antibiotic takes effect soon. Take care and keep us posted.
ReplyDeletePositive thoughts for a smooth recovery. Take care. Janet in Seattle
ReplyDeleteOh Jean, I sympathise. I've also been feeling a bit 'off' for a few days and am now on antibiotics and having to take it slowly. As in just sitting around and reading. One book mentioned a Trollope, 'Anya's Angels' which is free on Kindle so I have downloaded it for whenever I fell ready to read it.
ReplyDeleteI was told my midwife years, decades ago, to be sure and eat live yogurt if I am taking antibiotics.
Hope you make a speedy recovery.
Ayala's Angels, I mean.
DeleteGlad the doctor has been to see you and that explains why you have been feeling “ wabbit “. Penicillin does take a few days to work but I’m sure you will feel better in a few days.
ReplyDeleteOh dear! You do amaze me though. Not sure that I could tackle Wordle with a chest infection. At least the doctor found something treatable, rather than just the ills of advancing age. Let's hope you feel better soon.
ReplyDeleteI hope you're feeling better very soon!
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to hear you have an infection. Glad the doctor came so quickly and that you are on medication. Antibiotics work wonders and you will be better soon.
ReplyDeleteThinking of you.

This "Cat" is sending a long distance paw pat. Please take care of yourself!
ReplyDeleteRe: Martin Amis, I tried to like his novels but most didn't do it for me. I've been thinking of rereading Time's Arrow though. His memoir Experience...is really good. As that columnist you like observed, its fathers and sons and complicated lives.
ReplyDeleteAre you in the habit of calling a family member daily? Or having them call you? So if something happens (like a fall) someone will be alerted. I agree with the doctor. Chloe
ReplyDeleteChloe's idea is a good one. Frequent calls don't have to be "about" anything special, just the verbal equivalent of a friendly wave. If calls aren't easy, a daily email is better than nothing, though in my area they can be delayed sometimes, I don't know why.
ReplyDeleteI agree about the live yogurt. And avoid sugary things, too - I've heard that sugar slows down the white blood cells.
Keep warm and rest!
I hope the antibiotics work very soon.
ReplyDeleteI’m in NJ visiting family, and had a minute to catch up. I do hope you are on the mend!
