Here’s the Calcutta Cup vest so far. I think you can
see the reasons for my dissatisfaction. I still hope that it’ll pull itself
together as I go on. That blue stripe in the second Fair Isle band – the sky in
Hopper’s picture, presumably – is too much.
I hesitated for a while, and then ordered Kate Davies’
new book, about her stroke. It is guaranteed to be well written, and I was
taken with the fact that in the video of her talk about it to – was it? – the
EYF, she is wearing the sleeveless vest of unpronounceable title which I mean
to knit myself. It’s in the West Highland Way book.
…at this point I was invited to let the computer
install a new version of Windows. It has taken an unconscionable amount of
time, and, so far, doesn’t seem to have rewarded my patience by letting me play
Freecell.
But that’s enough for this evening.
I think the Calcutta Cup vest is brilliant, Jean, including the blue stripe. Not only are the colours very nice, they are also very wearable.
ReplyDeleteIf it is any comfort, I have recently been given updates, which took an age, and Freecell was back afterwards, but not quite straightaway. Hope the same will happen for you!
ReplyDeleteI think the blue is just fine. The vest is going to be lovely.
ReplyDeleteI hope Freecell is back soon.
I like the colors! I hope your update went well.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you: that blue seems to have come from nowhere. It isn't in the swatch scarf as shown in your header. Because you already have the cup band, the rest of the vest needs to be coherent in terms of colouring.
ReplyDeleteThe vest is lovely - in both color and design...a true trophy vest...He will wear it with such pride and won't he look handsome?

I love the blue band. Windows 1803 is the newest version of windows and a huge upgrade. It’s not just an update but a new version. It’s one of the best updates they have done on a few years. I will see if I can find out about free cell for you.
ReplyDeleteAdd blue in again, maybe in a peerie.
ReplyDeleteI like the sky blue a lot ...
ReplyDeleteBut if an issue I think weavinfool's idea is good- add in a bit of blue higher up in a smaller amount.
Your son is lucky to receive this amazing vest!

Seconding the peerie-blue idea. The nice thing about Fair Isle is that you can change it as you go along.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the vest photo - how fun to see your progress. He'll wear it with pride!
ReplyDeleteI like the blue. Ditto to adding a bit more of it.
Agree - that bit of blue gives the colors added depth!
